Stun (1988) – A Risky Card-Flipping Race to 15!
Stun is one of those games that looks simple on the surface but gets surprisingly tense as soon as you get going. Released in 1988 by Waddingtons, this fast-paced game is all about flipping cards and collecting chips—but there’s a catch. You’re trying to reach a total of 15 chips using the cards in front of you, but if you reveal a dreaded Stun card during your turn, you lose everything you’ve just collected.
Each player takes turns flipping cards one at a time, deciding whether to keep going or stop before it's too late. Some cards add one chip, some add three, and some bring surprises like the Stun Plus and Stun Minus cards. Do you risk it and flip another card or play it safe and stop? That’s where the tension kicks in—and it's what makes this game so addictive.
Stun is perfect for game nights when you want something light and fun, but still with that edge-of-your-seat feeling. It’s easy to pick up and quick to play, making it ideal for families, friends, and anyone who loves a good push-your-luck challenge.
How to Play
Your goal is to collect 5 chips before anyone else. On your turn, you flip cards one by one from the draw pile and add up the total number of chips on them. If you reach exactly 15, you trade those cards in for a chip and start fresh. But if you draw a Stun card during your turn, you lose all the cards from that turn and end it immediately. There are also special cards that can steal chips from other players or reduce their total. It’s a mix of luck, strategy, and knowing when to stop.
Why Rent Stun
It’s the kind of game that anyone can join in on without needing loads of rules or prep time. The more people playing, the more exciting it gets. Stun is ideal if you're after a quick, unpredictable game that gets everyone laughing, groaning, and maybe even bluffing a little. Great for families, game nights, and anyone who loves a quick thrill without the fuss.
