Spider and Fly (1977) – A Classic Creepy-Crawly Race to Freedom
Spider and Fly (1977) is a quirky and tense vintage board game where players must race to free their trapped flies from the web before Mr Spider catches them. With a unique spinning spider mechanism, a dice-based movement system, and a mix of luck and strategy, this game is packed with suspense and old-school fun. It's a brilliant choice for lovers of retro games or families looking for something a bit different.
How to Play
Each player chooses a colour and takes two matching flies. You take turns rolling two dice—one regular and one spider dice. Move your flies along the spiral track based on the roll, working your way to the web’s exit. If the spider dice shows the spider symbol, you must spin Mr Spider on top of the web. If he stops on one of the slots where a fly is sitting, that fly is caught and returned to the start! Your aim is to be the first player to get both of your flies to safety without being snatched back by the spinning spider. Sounds easy—but one spin can ruin everything.
