Push (1977) – A Retro Game of Skill, Strategy, and Bold Moves
Push (1977) is a clever two-player strategy game where every move counts. Using a grid filled with coloured balls, players take turns pushing rows to try and form a perfect square of their own colour. It sounds simple, but one wrong push can hand the game to your opponent. First released by Spear’s Games, this retro gem is all about timing, foresight, and staying one step ahead. Whether you're new to it or remember it from your childhood, Push is one of those games you’ll want to play again and again.
How to Play
Each player chooses a colour – one takes yellow balls, the other black.
The board starts full, with just one ball left aside.
On your turn, place your ball at one of the numbered slots and push it into a row, shifting five balls across.
The ball that pops out is saved for your next turn.
The aim is to create a 3x3 square of your colour anywhere on the board.
If the last ball pushed out is your own colour, you get to go again.
If all five balls in a row are the same colour, that row can’t be pushed.
There are also variations for simplified or more advanced versions, including a solo mode.
