King of the Castle (1989) – Fast-Paced 2 Player Strategy Game
King of the Castle is a fast-paced two-player game of building skill and strategy. Your goal is to claim as many crowns as possible by lining up three of your coloured stones vertically or diagonally beneath a crown. Each crown you capture brings you closer to victory, but with only five crowns up for grabs, you’ll need to think ahead and outmanoeuvre your opponent to claim the title of “King of the Castle.”
How to Play
One player takes 23 pink stones and the other takes 23 green stones. The five crown cards are placed on the top parapet spaces of the board. Players take turns placing their stones, starting on the bottom row or stacking on top of their opponent’s stones — but every stone must be supported by one beneath it. To win a crown, get three of your stones in a vertical or diagonal line directly under a crown. Play continues until all stones are placed or all crowns are taken. There’s also a faster version where players try to get three in a row anywhere on the board, claiming crowns as they go. The player with the most crowns at the end wins.
Why Rent
King of the Castle is perfect for a quick yet competitive gaming session that keeps both players on their toes. Its simple rules make it easy to learn, but its tactical depth ensures that no two games play out the same way. Whether you’re looking for a fun head-to-head challenge or a fast-paced duel of wits, this game delivers engaging play every time.
