Home and Away (1989) – Solve the Mystery and Uncover the Truth
If you were a fan of the classic Aussie soap, you’ll love the game version of Home and Away from 1989. But don’t worry—there’s no need to know the show to enjoy it. This is a mystery-solving board game with a twist. You play as one of five main characters trying to work out which other characters are involved in the drama, using clues from around the board. With story cards, chat cards, and even random twists from the “Home and Away” deck, it’s a bit of soap opera, a bit of deduction, and a whole lot of fun. Perfect for fans of character-based games and old-school TV throwbacks.
How to Play:
Each player picks a main character—Carly, Lynn, Frank, Steven or Sally—and then selects one of the story cards. That story sets the mystery you’re all trying to solve. As you move around the board, you’ll land on character spaces and get to peek at their chat cards, which give you clues (some helpful, some cryptic!). You'll be piecing together who’s involved in what, asking questions, sharing spaces, and using your brain to crack the case. The Home and Away cards mix things up—they might help or totally throw you off course. When you think you know who’s involved, head to the reveal space and make your final guess… but be warned: if you're wrong, you're out!
Why Rent:
This one’s a real nostalgic gem and a proper blast from the past. If you’re into TV-themed games, detective-style gameplay or just want a fun family game night with a bit of drama thrown in, this ticks every box. It’s easy to learn, packed with character, and great for anyone who enjoys solving a puzzle. You don’t have to be a fan of the show to get stuck in—it’s just a brilliantly themed game that’ll have everyone guessing and giggling.
