Genius (1981) – Light Up the Tiles, Light Up Your Brain

Genius (1981) – Light Up the Tiles, Light Up Your Brain

Genius is one of those games that looks simple… until you start playing it. Made in 1981 by Milton Bradley, this electronic puzzle challenges you to slide and shuffle eight tiles into their exact electronically correct spots. Only when each tile is in just the right place will it light up – and only then have you cracked the puzzle.

You’ll be sliding tiles up, down, and sideways, trying to get them to glow all at the same time. It’s oddly satisfying when one lights up – and totally maddening when you knock another out of place doing it. It's all about patience, logic, and a bit of stubbornness.

Perfect for solo play and brilliant for improving your focus and problem-solving skills, Genius is one of those brain-teasing games you’ll come back to again and again. There's no timer, no pressure – just you versus the puzzle.

How to Play

Turn on the game and either hold it in your hands or place it flat on a table. Use your thumbs or fingers to shift the tiles into different positions.

Only tiles in the exact right spot will light up. Move them around until you’ve got all eight lit at the same time. When you’ve done that, you win! Then scramble the tiles and go again.

It’s super addictive – once you’ve lit them all up once, you’ll want to keep proving you can do it again.

Why Rent This Game

It’s a great throwback and a brilliant mental challenge. No noise, no screens, just quiet logic and a game that rewards persistence. Whether you're looking for something to train your brain or just want a puzzle that doesn't involve a single piece going missing, Genius delivers.
