Evolutions (1996) – The trivia game that unlocks the secrets of our past
Evolutions is a trivia-style board game that’s all about figuring out where everyday things came from. Each card holds a scenario with a bit of a backstory, and it’s your job to guess what the origin is. It could be anything from an invention to a nursery rhyme, a product, or even a superstition. It’s a bit of a history lesson hidden inside a really fun guessing game, and it works just as well with two people as it does with six. It’s one of those games that gets you talking, thinking, and sometimes laughing at how wrong your first guess was. If you love learning random facts or shouting out answers mid-question, this one’s right up your street.
How to play
Each player picks a coloured playing piece and places it on the START space. On your turn, you read out a card to the person on your left. The card describes a situation, object or story, and they have to try and figure out what it is. If they get it right, they move two spaces. If they don’t know, it moves around the table until someone guesses correctly (they’ll move one space) or the answer is revealed. There are bonus spaces and bonus points if your playing piece is on a category that matches the card, so there’s a bit of strategy in there too. You can play solo or in teams, which makes it perfect for family nights, dinner parties, or even classrooms. First one to the finish wins!
Why rent Evolutions
Evolutions is a fab mix of trivia, storytelling, and light competition. It’s especially great for adults and older kids who love a challenge or just want to learn something new in a fun way. Renting it means you get all the fun without the full price, and once you’ve played through the cards, you can swap it out for something new. It’s also brilliant for schools or homeschoolers looking to sneak a bit of learning into game time. A great choice for curious minds, word lovers, and fans of a good old-fashioned guessing game.
