Bird in the Hand (1984) – A Light Family Game with Birds, Dice & Challenges

This one’s a real gem from the '80s and perfect for families. In Bird in the Hand, you're on a race to be the first to collect and safely return three little birds to your nest. Sounds easy? It’s not. There’s strategy, luck, and a bit of sneaky fun involved too. You’ll be rolling dice, landing on bird squares, and either gently collecting a bird or boldly challenging your opponents. It's light-hearted, simple to pick up, and ideal for younger players or a chilled-out family games night.

How to Play
Each player picks a track and takes turns rolling the dice to move along it. If you land exactly on a bird square, you can either take a bird from the bush and perch it — or challenge another player for one of theirs. But be warned, you can only have two birds perched at any time. Your goal is to safely get three birds home to your nest. Challenges involve a fun guessing game with hands behind the back, so there's laughter and suspense built right in. The first to nest three birds wins!

Why Rent
It’s such a unique, nostalgic game — and great for all ages. It doesn’t take long to play, so it's lovely for quick rounds after dinner or as part of a games night lineup. With its 3D bird bush and light strategy, it’s perfect for younger players or anyone looking for a simple, feel-good game. If you’ve never played it, it’s one of those charming games that just brings people together.
